Liturgical & Prayer Life

Here at Bosco College, we pride ourselves on modelling the teachings of Jesus Christ and of St John Bosco, our patron saint. The aim of our RE and evangelisation program is to guide students and staff on their faith journey, and support parents in their aims to raise their children to be good Christians.

Whole School Liturgical Experiences

As a College, we have the opportunity to celebrate together at various times in the school year. These celebrations include:

  • Opening College Mass
  • Ash Wednesday Pastoral Class Liturgy
  • Holy Week Liturgy
  • Bosco Community Feast Day Mass
  • Mother’s Day Mass
  • Feast of the Assumption Mass
  • Father’s Day Mass
  • All Saints’ Day Mass
  • Christmas Liturgy

Religious Education Class Masses

In 2011 our St Francis de Sales Chapel was blessed and commissioned for use. The chapel is located next to the Library. Each term, students have the opportunity, with their RE teachers, to organise and lead a class mass with their peers. Furthermore, to keep connections with St John Bosco Parish strong, students in Years 7-10 attend a morning mass over at the St Mary Mazzarello Chapel. All these dates are published in the newsletter and parents are more than welcome to attend.

A mass is held every Wednesday morning at 8.00am-8.30am in the St Francis de Sales Chapel and all students, parents and staff are welcome to attend and celebrate together.

Prayer and Sacramental Opportunities

Prayer opportunities are offered to both students and staff at the College. For students, all RE lessons and most other lessons commence with a prayer. At times, students are asked to lead and organise prayer for their classes. As a Pastoral Class, students also organise a prayer service for all members of the school community for the Wednesday Pastoral Prayer Service which takes place each Wednesday at the St Francis de Sales Chapel.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is also offered throughout the year. In most cases this is offered to whole year groups, at retreats or via the RE or Pastoral program. Students and staff are welcome to approach our College Chaplain at any time to take part in Reconciliation.

Other prayer opportunities include Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Praying of the Rosary during the months of May and October.

The St Francis de Sales Chapel is open every school day from 8.00am-3.30pm where students and staff can go to if they wish to pray, reflect or meditate.
