The College Motto Gaudium et Spes ("Joy and Hope") is taken from the opening paragraph of the Second Vatican Council's most inspiring document, the 'Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World': "The joy and hope, the grief and anguish of the people of our time, especially of those who are poor or afflicted in any way, are the joy and the hope, the grief and anguish of the followers of Christ as well ... Nothing that is genuinely human fails to find an echo in their hearts."

These words - and indeed the whole document - are the 'Magna Carta' of St John Bosco College.

bosco crest emblem 1

The College Badge is a strikingly simple Christian shield, which features a plain, bold cross: direct, uncompromising, proudly Christian. The cross is surmounted by the name of the titular of the school, 'Bosco', the familiar name by which the school is known. The colours of white and green are the liturgical colours of joy and hope, respectively.

The badge is a plain and uncomplicated statement of the ethos of the school: Christian, Bosconian, human.
